New Enhanced ClearSuite with ClearEngine Inside
Surprisingly, frequent bottlenecks and inefficiencies remain in the Bible translation process that prevent people from getting access to Scripture in their native language as quickly as possible.
By upgrading the ClearEngine-ClearSuite tool and making them both available for use offline, we will help translators improve the efficiency and accuracy of their life-changing work. This important effort will equip translation teams with advanced software assistance needed to check their work as they draft and easily track the consistency and suitability of their translation word choices no matter which books of the Bible they are translating.
Our goal is to provide advanced machine assistance for those serving on the frontlines of translation work to produce more thoroughly checked, accurate Bible translations, so that Scripture can transform more lives more quickly.
MACULA (Machine-Assisted Corpus Unified Linguistic Annotation)
Because the Bible was primarily written in ancient languages (Hebrew and Greek) many Bible translators often lack sufficient insight into the meaning of the original Scriptures.
Clear will make a decade’s worth of relevant linguistic knowledge on sentence structure, meaning, and relationships in the original inspired Hebrew and Greek texts freely and readily available through open licensing. We are very excited about the breakthrough potential of MACULA for equipping Bible translators around the world to accelerate the faithful translation of God’s Word.
Our goal is to supply translators with essential insights into the original text that are normally only available to intermediate and advanced students of the Greek and Hebrew, which will lead to higher-quality translations more quickly for multitudes of believers everywhere still waiting.
Aligned Resource Pilot Testing
Because many Bible translators don’t know Greek and Hebrew, they need reliable Bible translations in languages they do understand well, so-called gateway languages, to act as bridges in their translation. Bible translators use these Aligned Resources to gain insights into the original meaning of the Greek and Hebrew through the gateway language translation. There simply are not enough reliable Aligned Resources in gateway languages available to keep pace with the world-wide translation effort.
By equipping translation teams with our ClearEngine and ClearSuite technology for use offline, we are making our advanced software assistance available to align more Bible translations in gateway languages to the Greek and Hebrew more quickly and easily. This is because the ClearSuite and ClearEngine can automatically align most of the Scripture text for existing Bible translations in many languages. This will facilitate faster human editing to complete many more of the urgently needed aligned gateway language translations faster.
Our passion and goals are serving translators working tirelessly to bring God’s Word to all people by equipping them to accelerate the creation of aligned gateway translations.
New Testament to Old Testament Projects
There are 1,551 languages with a New Testament that still lack an Old Testament. This is due to the extended length of time it takes and the increased costs of translating the Old Testament.
Clear is testing an advanced approach that maximizes the computer learning from the New Testament to jumpstart the Old Testament translation. We are currently planning to pilot test this concept in three projects that have completed their New Testaments and are eager to begin their Old Testament translation work. The potential impact of these projects is tremendous as they represent over 17 million people without the full Bible in their language.
Our goal is to equip Old Testament Bible translators with the enhanced capabilities of our technology tools, to more quickly produce an accurate Old Testament translation for the many people groups still waiting.
